I have just opened my small home daycare/preschool. I welcome my first families and hope to enroll a cohort of littles who nap on a similar schedule, whatever the age. I am inspired by RIE, Reggio, Waldorf, Montessori and Forest School practices. We use mostly natural materials indoors and love spending time in the gardens. We are hoping to create a community where families support one another and feel supported, and where children can form lasting friendships. We will start by enrolling 2 to 4 babies at a time. We also love art education! It's best to encourage, rather than demonstrate art-making until a child’s self-esteem can handle the challenges of witnessing masterful art production without being discouraged. I believe that art-making is as much a spiritual-emotional-social process as an aesthetic one (for the very young, even more so). I teach children how to put words to their needs and feelings, and when age-appropriate, how o notice feelings in others.

I like to observe a child's interests and encourage their creative development of those interests, expanding into experiments, projects, research, and imaginative play.
We are currently accepting new full-time enrollments, Mon-Fri 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, for children 3 months and up. See website for more information.
I appreciate the easy trust, wonder, innocence, courage, persistence, creativity and resilience of children, expressed in ways unique to each one. I have worked with children for most of my life, first in summer camps, then as an outdoor education, arts, and creative movement instructor and tutor.

Finding the perfect daycare or childcare center in Oakland for your child can be a smooth and straightforward process when you know where to look and what to consider. The first step is to visit Daycare.com, the ultimate website for locating high-quality childcare options in your area. Daycare.com makes it easy to search for facilities that meet your specific needs, whether you're looking for somewhere close to your home or near your workplace. The site offers a user-friendly interface where you can filter your search by location, hours of operation, and types of programs offered. This ensures that you can quickly pinpoint daycare centers that align with your schedule and parenting style. Each listing on Daycare.com provides essential information such as licensing details, parent reviews, and photos of the facility, helping you make an informed decision without the hassle of endless phone calls and visits. To find the best childcare center, start by making a checklist of what's important to you. Consider factors like the staff-to-child ratio, the qualifications of the caregivers, and the types of activities and educational programs offered. Daycare.com allows you to compare these features side by side, making it easier to narrow down your options. Don't forget to read the reviews from other parents; their firsthand experiences can offer valuable insights into the center's environment and the caregivers' attentiveness. Once you've shortlisted a few options, schedule visits to these centers to observe the facilities firsthand. Pay attention to the cleanliness, the safety measures in place, and how the staff interacts with the children. Trust your instincts—if a place feels right and checks all your boxes, it's likely a good fit for your child. Utilizing Daycare.com simplifies the entire process, ensuring that you find a reliable, nurturing, and convenient daycare or childcare center in Oakland that both you and your child will love.
