Afterschool in Nature

Afterschool in Nature at Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary serves youth 3rd through 8th grade, hosted on our 600-acre nature reserve in Orange. Afterschool in Nature’s mission is to provide the space and place for all children to grow and flourish by interacting with nature. Through a program of student-led nature-based activities, we empower our youth in gaining a greater sense of healthy kinship to their natural environment and community. Our Afterschool in Nature curriculum intimately follows the cycle of the seasons, wildlife, and local flora. Activities are guided by youth-led learning and nature immersion while integrating STEM objectives, creative arts, and social-emotional learning. Our outdoor educators support youth with decades of nature education experience and trauma-informed training. We offer a sliding scale tuition and scholarships to make this program accessible for all families. We facilitate transportation from localschools in Orange and Washington Counties and home at end of day.
